Dr. Milton Bio
Dr. Milton Jones hails from the great state of NC. He was saved at the age of nine in an independent Baptist Church. In the years which followed the orientation became more Pentecostal than Baptistic. His home church was a “poor man’s” church with members who were illiterate. For that reason he began to teach Sunday School as a teenager.
In a series of circumstances clearly orchestrated by God, Pastor Jones ended up at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, as a Chemistry major. In his freshman year God changed the direction of his life and he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Bible in 1974. Immediately after graduation, Pastor Jones and his newly-wed wife Pam, took his first pastorate at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Decatur, AL. In 1983, he assumed the pastorate of the Gateway Baptist Church in Macon, GA. Nine years later God moved the Jones family to the Oak Forest Baptist Temple in Oak Forest, IL. This ministry moved to Frankfort, IL in 1996 and changed its name to the Heritage Baptist Church. Pastor Jones has served this ministry for 25 years.
In every church God has enabled a resolution of debt issues and the building of new facilities. The current ministry is debt free after more than 40 years of debilitating debt.
Educationally Pastor Jones completed the Master of Ministry degree at Bob Jones in 1990. He was awarded the honorary Doctor of Divinity by the Maryland Baptist Bible College in 1992. In 2000 he completed the Doctor of Sacred Ministry degree at Northland Baptist Bible College. He has served various boards including the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship, the Illinois Association of Christian Schools, and Camp Joy in Whitewater, WI. Pastor Jones has served the board of the Baptist World Mission in various capacities for 29 years.
The focus of ministry has been pastoral. The consequence has been the authoring of 35 volumes available under the banner of the Fountain of Life Ministries. Additionally Pastor Jones has brought 16 A.T. Pierson volumes back into print and the historically important volume, The Foreign Mission Controversy in the Northern Baptist Convention by Chester Tulga. For 15 years Pastor and Mrs. Jones conducted an annual retreat for Pastors and Wives, which served over 170 couples.
